A London Busker was launched high above the capital to play an exclusive set on the Barclaycard Betterview platform in Hyde Park on 5th July.
Visitors to the festival were serenaded 100ft above the ground by Charlotte Campbell, one of the UK’s top buskers from Ruislip, London, as part of the free entertainment on offer mid-week at Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park.
Barclaycard chose Campbell in a competition, which collaborated with The Busking Project. The competition, which took place in June, saw buskers nationwide write and record original ‘birthday’ themed songs in recognition of Barclaycard’s own 50th anniversary this year. Campbell was chosen as the winner with her song ‘Years’.
“We’re delighted that talented busker, Charlotte, has won the chance and challenge of performing an exclusive set 100ft in the sky on Barclaycard Betterview,” said Nick Broad, Founder and CEO of The Busking Project said, “We’re proud to be working with Barclaycard to promote emerging busking talent, and hope that music fans all tastes will find something to enjoy in Charlotte’s set.”
Campbell, who has just returned from a successful performance at Glastonbury, performed her winning song ‘Years’ along with a mixture of classic covers and some of her own work.
“I’m thrilled to be playing this special set on Barclaycard Betterview, and over the moon that my song, Years, was the winning song,” said Campbell prior to her performance, “I’ve never performed 100ft in the sky before, so it’ll be another first for me!”
