The Houses of Parliament are opening their doors for tours this festive season with two options available:
Festive family tours and activities on 29 and 30 December
These festive tours start at 11am and 2pm and take about an hour. Kids go free. Beginning in Prince’s Chamber, the tours also include the Lords Chamber, Central Lobby and the Commons Chamber before finishing in Westminster Hall which is home to the Parliamentary Christmas tree. During the tour discover more about Christmas during the time of Oliver Cromwell, the influence that Queen Victoria and Prince Albert had on the festive season we know today and how Westminster Hall has been a place of feasting over the years. After the tour, join Parliament’s Visitor Assistants for some festive family activities.
Private guided tours on the morning of New Year’s Eve
A small number of guided tours of the House of Commons and House of Lords will run on New Year’s Eve. These tours are available to private groups of up to 25 people. Tour highlights include the Queen’s Robing Room, Royal Gallery, Lords Chamber, Central Lobby, Commons Chamber, St Stephen’s Hall and Westminster Hall. Led by an expert ‘Blue Badge’ guide, each tour takes 90 minutes. Starting at 30 minute intervals between 9am and 12pm, the price per group is £475.
