Escape To A Subtropical Roof Garden In The Heart Of London At John Lewis Oxford Street

0

Award-winning landscape garden designers, Garden Club London, have collaborated with John Lewis Oxford Street for the second year running to create a roof top garden away from the hustle and bustle below.

Garden Club London carefully planted over 40 different plant species to transport visitors out of London into a relaxing subtropical island retreat, as part of the John Lewis #findyoursummer campaign.

Over 80 people worked to produce this tropical haven, carefully installing over 1000 hand-planted plants, shrubs, trees and grasses. The space features mature and many continually blooming plants to provide an abundance of colour and scent to last all summer.

Look out for the vibrant and large daisy-like Gazania and Osteospermum flowers in vivid purples and oranges. Come July/August the garden will be peppered with zesty Rudbeckia and flashes of hot oranges and reds from the Crocosmia, while Bamboo and Pittosporum help create sheltered areas to protect more delicate plants such as the exotic Musa (Banana Plant).

Reclaimed driftwood has been speckled throughout the garden, along with a bespoke seating area perfect for your ‘tropical holiday’ snaps with friends. The space houses a variety of pop-up shops disguised as colourful, weathered beach huts, including Joe And The Juice and Rossopomodoro, while tall palm trees complete the ultimate retreat feeling.

The Roof Garden is accessible through the fifth floor shop and is open daily from 10am – 8pm (Sunday 11.30am – 4pm).
